As part of the Macquarie 2010 celebrations a new Iris has been developed to honour Governor Macquarie's wife, Elizabeth Campbell Macquarie, who gave iris corms to new settlers to remind them of home. Eight of these new iris plants have just been planted in Glenalvon's heritage garden and we eagerly await their first flowering. Two of the new Lachlan Macquarie Rose bushes will join the irises at a planting ceremony at a later date.
